Handcart Pioneers

I was asked by a couple to do a commissioned painting of “Pioneers”.  With broad creative freedom, I chose to paint an image of handcart pioneers crossing a stream, with aspects of both the struggle and the beauty of the journey.  Embedded in the image are visual hints of God’s unseen order, plan and timing for his children.  The subject matter is inspiring and traditional, while the application of paint is fresh, direct, and contemporary. The couple loved this painting, and it occupies a position of prominence in their living room.
