This painting plays with the idea that paint can be just paint on a surface, or combined in a way to create recognition. This painting features what appears to be pieces of a broken yellow pencil taped to each of three panels. Under each pencil segment and tape illusion is an abstract painting. The abstract paintings use the same colors and paint as are employed to create the illusion of pencils and tape. In fact, look closely and you’ll see that on one of the panels, the pencil piece turns into a drip of yellow paint!
