Log Fence

The mountains above Elk Ridge and Payson Utah are home to a surprising number of cattle that graze the steep terrain.  To contain the cattle in certain meadows, there are long log fences.  This study was painted on location in one such mountain meadow.  There weren’t any cattle there at the time–just this log fence. The trees were turning yellow with early Fall, and there is even a glimpse through the trees of the white, snow covered Mount Nebo (see top right area of painting).
