It is stretching it a bit to categorize this painting in “Surrealism”. But there has been some juxtaposing here; I took the reference photo of the shooter on horseback at the Spanish Fork Fairgrounds. I then replaced the background with a panorama of Utah Valley and Mount Timpanogos in the painting. The background was actually the view of the valley we had from the front of our house when we lived in Elk Ridge.
